Volleyball Recap: Hialeah Educational Academy Takes a Loss

The Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie came up short against the American Heritage Patriots on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Biggie have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Hialeah Educational Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into American Heritage's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-18, 25-20.

Hialeah Educational Academy's offense was headlined by Mia Fernandez and Kelly Barrios, who picked up two kills apiece. They got some help from Emily Ortega and her four assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Leading American Heritage to victory were Carly Tabony and Sofia Lisamore. Tabony had six digs and four aces, while Lisamore had nine assists and eight digs. That's the most aces Tabony has posted since back in October of 2024. Sophia Negroni also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Hialeah Educational Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for American Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Hialeah Educational Academy has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Miami Christian on the 29th. As for American Heritage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against NSU University on the 25th.
