Basketball Recap: Greenwood Christian Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Greenwood Christian had no problem doing just that on Friday. They managed a 50-46 win over the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals.

Despite the defeat, Thomas Sumter Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Malayia English posted 23 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. That was a full 50% of Thomas Sumter Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row English has put up more than a third of the team's points. Annabelle Connell was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Greenwood Christian's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Greenwood Christian has already played their next match, a 47-14 loss against Orangeburg Prep on the 17th. Thomas Sumter Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
