Basketball Recap: Cypress Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bay Area Christian last Tuesday, Cypress Christian came back down to earth. The Cypress Christian Warriors took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Legacy Prep Christian Academy Lions on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 72-51 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cypress Christian lost, don't look at Kolton Kurek. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points and six rebounds. Kurek is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Quarles, who earned six points and seven boards.

Cypress Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-17 record this season. As for Legacy Prep Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing The Woodlands Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Legacy Prep Christian Academy will head out to face The Woodlands Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Cypress Christian will host them at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
