Preview: Platte Canyon Huskies vs. Strasburg Indians
Platte Canyon is on a eight-game streak of home wins, while Strasburg is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Platte Canyon Huskies will take on the Strasburg Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Platte Canyon humbled Middle Park with a 46-6 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-6.
Platte Canyon had a senior duo take command as Sam Patterson rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns and Kamron Skouge rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Patterson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.
Meanwhile, Strasburg never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Jefferson, posting a 65-0 win at home.
Strasburg's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thomas Devlin, who rushed for 169 yards and five touchdowns on only 12 carries. Devlin hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for five straight games. Landen Martin was another key contributor, throwing for 91 yards and three touchdowns on only six passes.
Their wins bumped Platte Canyon to 8-0 and Strasburg to 6-2.
Platte Canyon was taken down by Strasburg 54-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Platte Canyon have more luck at home instead of on the road?
