Baseball Recap: Peetz Comes Up Short

Peetz lost against Prairie on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bulldogs took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Conner Schumacher was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Peetz: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Logan Vallier made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Peetz's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Rhyder Bayne was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Peetz's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Prairie, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

While Peetz had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
