Baseball Game Preview: Morton Potters vs. Canton Little Giants

For the second straight game, Morton will face off against Canton. The Potters will head out on the road to face off against the Little Giants at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morton has five straight wins, Canton has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Morton's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Canton 7-0.

The result came thanks to Ryan Schaffnit's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Morton is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrew Brooks, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Brandon Sieben also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Canton's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Morton, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. However, it's not like Canton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts.
