Basketball Recap: Mackay Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

There's no place like home for Mackay, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past the Richfield Tigers with a 47-43 win on Saturday. For the Miners, this counts as revenge for the 46-35 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Mackay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaizer Summers, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Summers has scored at least a third of Mackay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Holt, who posted eight points and 16 rebounds.

Mackay is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Richfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Mackay will welcome American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mackay is facing American Heritage at the right time seeing as American Heritage is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Richfield, they are taking a road trip to take on Rockland at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
