Volleyball Recap: Kadence Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Columbus East over Franklin Community

Columbus East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs. If the Olympians were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Grizzly Cubs when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-19, 16-25, 25-17.

Columbus East lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kadence Miller, who had eight digs and four aces. Krea Martin was another key player, getting seven digs and four aces.

Franklin Community's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nila Netter, who had 14 digs and two assists. Those 14 digs gave Netter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hanna Stewart, who had eight digs and two aces.

Columbus East's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Franklin Community, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Columbus East has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Terre Haute South Vigo on the 23rd. As for Franklin Community, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Hanover Central on the 23rd.
