Softball Recap: Carmi-White County Comes Up Short

Carmi-White County managed to slip by Edwards County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bulldogs lost 8-2 to the Lions on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Lindsay Simmons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Carmi-White County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addi Elliott, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Alex Vaupel also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Carmi-White County now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Edwards County, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

While Carmi-White County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
