Basketball Recap: Magdalena Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Magdalena had won two straight road games and Joseph Zamora did his part to make it three on Thursday. The Magdalena Steers blew past the Animas Panthers, posting a 73-15 victory thanks in part to Zamora, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Markland, who posted seven points and six assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

Animas' loss came despite strong showings from James Jarvis and Weston Strickland. Jarvis earned eight points, while Strickland scored no points.

Magdalena has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Animas, they are on a 29-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Magdalena has already played their next matchup, a 43-34 win against Cliff on the 25th. Animas has also already played their next game (against Reserve), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
