Basketball Recap: Lane Tech Piles Up the Points Against Orr

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Lane Tech on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Orr Spartans out of the water with a 68-40 final score. The Champions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Lane Tech's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Bush, who went 7 of 13 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Lamperis, who posted ten points and three steals.

Orr lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nia Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Carmani Sharkey, who had 15 points.

The win (which was Lane Tech's fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-11. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.4 points. As for Orr, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-5.

Looking ahead, Lane Tech will venture away from home to face off against Whitney Young at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitney Young knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Lane Tech likes a good challenge. Orr does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
