Basketball Recap: Wellington-Napoleon Comes Up Short

Wellington-Napoleon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 59-39 to the Oak Grove Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while the Panthers are ranked 182nd).

When it comes to explaining why Wellington-Napoleon lost, don't look at Ayden Ellensohn. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Cali Russell, who scored ten points.

Wellington-Napoleon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Oak Grove, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Wellington-Napoleon will host Lafayette County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oak Grove, they and Center will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.
