Basketball Recap: Granite Hills Takes a Loss

Granite Hills was the 76-71 winner over Silver Valley when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Granite Hills Cougars were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 49-48 to the Silver Valley Trojans. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 13-6 in the first quarter.

It was another big night for Jasean Phillips, who went 8 of 16 en route to 27 points and six boards for Silver Valley. That makes it three consecutive games in which Phillips has scored at least a third of Silver Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Taylor, who posted seven points along with 13 rebounds and five steals.

Granite Hills' loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Silver Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.

Granite Hills has already played their next match, a 51-38 victory against Barstow on the 5th. As for Silver Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-31 win against Hesperia Christian on the 4th.
