Basketball Game Preview: L.E.A.D. Academy Lions vs. Jay Royals

The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions will take on the Jay Royals in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

L.E.A.D. Academy lost 60-39 to West Florida Baptist Academy on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 656th, while the Conquerors are ranked 190th).

Despite the loss, L.E.A.D. Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Andrew Holcomb posted 17 points along with six boards and three steals. Holcomb's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Floyd, who had seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Jay came up short against Brantley on Saturday and fell 70-59. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jay's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for L.E.A.D. Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

L.E.A.D. Academy lost to Jay on the road by a decisive 92-73 margin when the teams last played back in January. Thankfully for L.E.A.D. Academy, Ethan Mcdonald (who almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
