Softball Recap: Fountain Central Comes Up Short

If Fountain Central was feeling good fresh off their 13-2 takedown of Lafayette Central Catholic last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs came up short against the Crawfordsville Athenians on Saturday, falling 19-9. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Athenians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jacquelynn Weber was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mallory Massey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Fountain Central now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Crawfordsville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fountain Central will square off against South Vermillion at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Crawfordsville, they will host Danville at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
