Recap: Hamilton Heights Christian Academy Hawks vs. Chattanooga Prep Sentinels
The Hamilton Heights Christian Academy Hawks came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Chattanooga Prep 86-70. Given Hamilton Heights Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Chattanooga Prep is ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hamilton Heights Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevin De Kovachich, who scored 23 points along with six assists and three steals. Kamai Samuels was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Several Sentinels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derrick Roberson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Gaines, who scored 16 points.
Hamilton Heights Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Chattanooga Prep, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton Heights Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Brainerd at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Averaging 80.62 points so far this season, Hamilton Heights Christian Academy's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Brainerd better be ready for a challenge. As for Chattanooga Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Chattanooga Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
