Basketball Game Preview: Del Oro Suns vs. Mira Monte Lions

The Del Oro Suns will face off against the Mira Monte Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Del Oro will be strutting in after a victory while Mira Monte will be coming in after a defeat.

Del Oro is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Foothill to the tune of 87-50 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Suns.

Meanwhile, Mira Monte unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against South, falling 65-40. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 984th, while the Spartans are ranked 371st).

Del Oro is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Mira Monte, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Del Oro was able to grind out a solid win over Mira Monte in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 63-50. Will Del Oro repeat their success, or does Mira Monte have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
