Soccer Recap: Lake Travis Sets Scoring Season-High Against Austin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Travis). Their defense stepped up to hand the Austin Maroons a 7-0 shutout on Saturday. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Maroons are ranked 504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Travis' offense was hitting Austin from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Garrett Pataky led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Lake Travis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those seven contests. As for Austin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Lake Travis will head out to face off against Bowie at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Bowie will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lake Travis surely won't give up without a fight. As for Austin, they will square off against Del Valle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Del Valle's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
