Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Springfield Township couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pope John Paul II on Friday. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Springfield Township saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mike Capoferri, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Another was Owen Hastings, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Springfield Township's defeat dropped their record down to 18-4. As for Pope John Paul II, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
