Basketball Game Preview: Hoover Cardinals vs. Granite Hills Eagles

The Hoover Cardinals are taking a road trip to take on the Granite Hills Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hoover saw some tournament action on Monday. They came up short against Clark, falling 71-48. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 583rd in California, while the Chargers are ranked 21st in Nevada).

Meanwhile, Granite Hills had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Chieftains with a sharp 76-54 win. The game marked the Eagles' most dominant victory of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Hoover and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Granite Hills, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Hoover and Granite Hills were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, but Hoover came up empty-handed after a 49-48 loss. Can Hoover avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
