Baseball Game Preview: Manteno Panthers vs. Streator Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Manteno will face off against Streator. The Panthers will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Manteno is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Manteno hadn't beaten Streator on the road since April 24, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 5-3.

For Streator's part, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blaize Bressner, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Cole Winterrowd, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Manteno pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Streator, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-13.

Manteno's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game.
