Softball Game Preview: Westview Chargers vs. Milan Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Westview will face off against Milan. The Chargers will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Westview nor Milan made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Chargers skirted past the Bulldogs 4-2. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

McCall Sims spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alexis Evans, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mary (Maddie) Gray, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Milan's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-7. As for Westview, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
