Baseball Recap: Lawndale's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Morningside last Thursday, Lawndale came back down to earth. Lawndale took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Serra Cavaliers on Saturday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cardinals, who until this matchup were averaging 3.42 runs allowed.

Jeremy Lara was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

With the defeat, Lawndale broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3. As for Serra, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Lawndale didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 loss against Mira Costa on the 25th. As for Serra, they will take on Legacy at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Serra 3.2, Legacy 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
