Basketball Game Preview: Bakersfield Drillers vs. Sanger Apaches

The Bakersfield Drillers and the Sanger Apaches will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

While Bakersfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat McFarland 77-44. The Drillers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 33 points or more this season.

Bakersfield can attribute much of their success to Kade Johnson, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds, and Rashaan Shehee, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points. Johnson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Castaneda, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Sanger was able to grind out a solid win over Ridgeview on Wednesday, taking the game 64-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Apaches.

Sanger's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Bakersfield, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
