Baseball Game Preview: Spring Valley Vikings vs. Westwood Redhawks

Spring Valley is a perfect 7-0 against Westwood since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Spring Valley will challenge Westwood at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, Spring Valley came up short against Dutch Fork and fell 6-3.

Spring Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Williams, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Williams has become a key player for Spring Valley: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-8 otherwise. Another was Daniel Bledsoe, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Westwood made sure to put some runs up on the board against Dreher on Thursday. Westwood blew past Dreher 14-8. Considering the Redhawks have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Westwood pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Spring Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Spring Valley skirted past Westwood 15-14 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spring Valley since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
