Softball Recap: Mayer Wins Going Away Against Maryvale Prep

Mayer's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Maryvale Prep Matador 18-9. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by nine runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Andrea Nelson, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since March 3rd. Another player making a difference was Gracie Hood, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Mayer is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Maryvale Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Mayer didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-6 victory against Highland Prep West on the 31st.
