Preview: Northwest Knights vs. West Clermont Wolves
Having just played yesterday, the Northwest Knights will get right back to it and host the West Clermont Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Friday, Northwest lost to Colerain on the road by a decisive 69-53 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Northwest came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Colerain is ranked 691st).
Meanwhile, West Clermont fought the good fight in their overtime game against Harrison on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. West Clermont has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, West Clermont had strong showings from Rayshawn Hubbard, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Cameron Strause, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Hubbard scored a full 37.5% of West Clermont's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Daeveon Benett, who scored four points.
West Clermont struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for West Clermont, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
