Baseball Recap: Pocono Mountain East Find Success

Pocono Mountain East won the last time they faced Pleasant Valley and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Pocono Mountain East Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Pleasant Valley Bears 10-9. That's two games straight that the Cardinals have won by just one run.

Camryn Sopko made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Justin Williams was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Lucas Angst was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

The victory made it two in a row for Pocono Mountain East and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Pleasant Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Pocono Mountain East will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Wallenpaupack Area at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pleasant Valley, they will challenge William Allen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
