Baseball Game Preview: Sodus Spartans vs. East Rochester Bombers

Sodus is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while East Rochester is on a five-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Spartans will welcome the Bombers at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sodus 1.2, East Rochester 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Sodus and Williamson had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Spartans walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Marauders on Saturday. The Spartans have beaten the Marauders the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Marauders has come to flipping the script.

The team relied heavily on Garrett Barron, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Evan Laird was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Sodus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, East Rochester was able to grind out a solid win over Lyons on Saturday, taking the game 11-7.

East Rochester's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Sodus, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.

Sodus skirted past East Rochester 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Bombers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
