Baseball Game Preview: Lovington Wildcats vs. Albuquerque Academy Chargers

For the second straight game, Lovington will face off against Albuquerque Academy. The Wildcats will face off against the Chargers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Lovington heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Friday. They came up short against Albuquerque Academy, falling 10-0. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Albuquerque Academy's part, Lovington's batters probably weren't too happy with Matthew Delaney, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up a single walk). Delaney has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Williams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. AJ Lenhart was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Albuquerque Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Lovington, they now have a losing record of 13-14.
