Baseball Recap: 13 Straight Home Wins for Saranac

With a playoff win on the line, Saranac rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Saranac Lake Red Storm by a score of 5-1. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Saranac Lake's batters probably weren't too happy with Seth Petrashune, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up three walks). Petrashune has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Saranac's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Barnes, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Saranac pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Saranac Lake, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Saranac will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Storm: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
