Basketball Game Preview: James River Midlothian Rapids vs. L.C. Bird Skyhawks

Having just played yesterday, the James River Midlothian Rapids will head out on the road to face off against the L.C. Bird Skyhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, James River Midlothian came up short against Clover Hill and fell 70-61. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rapids came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 218th).

Meanwhile, L.C. Bird strolled past Huguenot with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 68-49.

L.C. Bird has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for James River Midlothian, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-5.

James River Midlothian was able to grind out a solid win over L.C. Bird in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 61-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for James River Midlothian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
