Preview: Sunset Knights vs. American Patriots

Sunset has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the American Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Sunset is ranked 462nd, while American is ranked 460th).

Sunset struggled with assists on Monday (Braddock had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sunset was dealt a 52-19 loss at the hands of Braddock. Sunset has not had much luck with Braddock recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Alyssa Torrech put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored nine points along with six steals. Torrech is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Sunset struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, American was able to grind out a solid win over Miami Springs on Monday, taking the game 38-26.

Lajahnique Olive was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five steals and four blocks. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Pena, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Sunset's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for American, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Sunset have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.3 rebounds per game. It's a different story for American, though, as they've been averaging only 23.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Everything went Sunset's way against American when the teams last played back in January as Sunset made off with a 49-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sunset since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
