Basketball Recap: Hammond Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Hammond played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Ponchatoula Green Wave, falling 68-47. The defeat continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Green Wave: they've now lost eight in a row.

Hammond lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Broderick Peters, who went 5 of 10 en route to 10 points and five boards. Peters continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Justin Harland was another key player, putting up ten points.

Hammond's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6. As for Ponchatoula, they pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Hammond didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-61 victory against Covington on the 29th. As for Ponchatoula, they will host Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ponchatoula's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
