Basketball Game Preview: Eagan Wildcats vs. Rosemount Irish

The Eagan Wildcats will head out to challenge the Rosemount Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Eagan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: Apple Valley, who was ranked tenth at the time (Eagan was ranked 23rd). Eagan came up short against Apple Valley on Tuesday, falling 79-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since February 27, 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rosemount, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Prior Lake 68-65. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Irish as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Eagan's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 12-5. As for Rosemount, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12.

Eagan barely slipped by Rosemount in their previous meeting back in January, winning 61-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eagan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
