Basketball Recap: Brighton Comes Up Short

Brighton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-32 heartbreaker at the hands of the Craigmont Chiefs. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chiefs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Brighton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Da'Lyjah Maclin, who posted six points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Maclin a new career-high in boards. Rihanna Wilson was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Brighton's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Craigmont, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brighton will face off against St. George's at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Craigmont has already played their next matchup (against Millington Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
