Baseball Game Preview: Maple River Eagles vs. Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers

For the first time this season, Maple River will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maple River is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Maple River came up short against Lisbon on Friday, falling 19-1.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown couldn't beat Medford on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Buccaneers lost 18-7 to the Tigers. The Buccaneers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Maple River, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Maple River took their victory against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
