Baseball Recap: Concord Comes Up Short at Home Against Lakeland

Concord unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Lakeland Lakers by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Myles Jones was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Concord saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Norwood, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.

Concord will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bremen at 5:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Lakeland, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Sturgis at 5:30 p.m. on the 10th.
