Baseball Recap: Mohawk Area Takes a Loss

If Mohawk Area was feeling good fresh off their 19-0 takedown of Sto-Rox on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors fell just short of the Shenango Wildcats by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Bobby Fadden put in work no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since April 1st. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Vinny Pezzuolo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Cash Stratton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Mohawk Area's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Shenango, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mohawk Area will venture away from home to take on Ellwood City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Wolverine have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Shenango, they will head out to face off against Laurel at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
