Basketball Recap: Clay County Takes a Loss

Clay County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Roane County Raiders, falling 57-8. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Roane County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Tolley, who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points and five steals. Tolley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Braylin Bowe, who posted seven points and six steals.

Clay County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Roane County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay County will venture away from home to square off against Midland Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Roane County, they will head out to take on Riverside at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
