Flag Football Game Preview: Burroughs Bears vs. Simi Valley Pioneers

The Burroughs Bears will face off against the Simi Valley Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burroughs' defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so Simi Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Last Thursday, Burroughs was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 19-13 to Windward. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly six points.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Karisma Mendez, who threw for 128 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 58 yards.

Burroughs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Geneva Kiefer and Isabella Estrada.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Simi Valley brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They came out on top against Oak Park by a score of 41-34 on Tuesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Pioneers' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Burroughs has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.8 points on average over those games. As for Simi Valley, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11.
