Basketball Recap: Cary Victorious

If Apex wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cary, they should've done a better job of containing Kyndall Brewington. The Cary Imps came out on top against the Apex Cougars by a score of 38-30 on Friday thanks in part to Brewington, who posted 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played.

Apex lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ja'Niyah Mangum, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Mangum continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Gregg-Kearns, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

Cary now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Apex, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Cary and Green Level will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Green Level will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Cary surely won't give up without a fight. Apex will take on Panther Creek in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
