Football Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Pittsburg + How To Watch

Pittsburg won the last time they faced Bishop Manogue and things went their way on Saturday too. The Pirates came out on top against the Miners by a score of 31-23. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Pirates' disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 31st in California, while the Miners are ranked fifth in Nevada).

Carlos Torres looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 291 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes. Those four passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Fatu, who picked up 109 receiving yards and one score.

Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brandon Mann, who rushed for 36 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 132 yards on seven of 15 attempts. 83 of Mann's passing yards were hauled in by Nate Simmons.

Pittsburg's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 42.5 points thus far. As for Bishop Manogue, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Pittsburg didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-35 loss against Archbishop Riordan on the 13th. As for Bishop Manogue, they have also already played their next contest, a 31-20 victory against Reno on the 12th.
