Softball Game Preview: Berea-Midpark Titans vs. Magnificat Blue Streaks

The Berea-Midpark Titans will square off against the Magnificat Blue Streaks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Berea-Midpark's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Thursday, when they got past Mathews' usually-dominant pitching crew. The Titans were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Mustangs. Considering the Titans have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Magnificat, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against St. Joseph Academy on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-2 win. Considering the Blue Streaks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Marylynn Kennedy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vanessa Roth, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Addison Bednar was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Magnificat's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Berea-Midpark, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4-1.
