Baseball Recap: Silver Valley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Victor Valley Christian

There's no place like home for Silver Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Victor Valley Christian Royals on Monday. Considering the Trojans have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Timothey Yrigoyen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Silver Valley is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Yrigoyen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Taylor Mogan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Ben Gillam was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Silver Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Silver Valley back to even at 5-5. As for Victor Valley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Silver Valley will head out on the road to challenge Desert at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Scorpions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.91 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Victor Valley Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Palmdale Academy Charter School at 3:00 p.m. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.3 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
