Football Recap: South View Comes Up Short + How To Watch

South View lost against Seventy-First back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers lost 46-22 to the Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Falcons are ranked 50th).

When it comes to explaining why South View lost, don't look at Cristian Simmons. Despite the final result, he rushed for 120 yards and two TDs. Simmons' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards.

Seventy-First got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was R'Maunni Watson out in front who rushed for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 158 yards and two TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. Those 158 passing yards gave Watson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayson Franklin, who rushed for 190 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.0 yards per carry.

This is the second loss in a row for South View and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Seventy-First, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

South View didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-37 loss against Harnett Central on the 7th. Seventy-First does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
