Baseball Recap: Laney Comes Up Short

After flying high against Purnell Swett last Tuesday, Laney came back down to earth. The Laney Buccaneers fell 5-2 to the Swansboro Pirates on Friday. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Laney saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JB Brooks, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Laney's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laney will take on Swansboro at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Swansboro, they will be playing at home against Ashley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
