New Washington posted their closest win since September 28, 2024 on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the South Central Rebels 3-2. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Rebels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

New Washington was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (105-101), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 27-25, 17-25, 17-25, 15-10.

Kaylee Lawrence paced New Washington's offense, picking up 22 kills. Lawrence got some help from Addy Lathem and her 31 assists. Lawrence was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

New Washington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-18 record this season. As for South Central, they dropped their record down to 4-17 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Coming up, New Washington will be taking part in a tournament against Charlestown at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for South Central, they will take on Cannelton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
