Basketball Recap: Louisville Wildcats vs. Kosciusko Whippets
Louisville lost against Kosciusko on January 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Louisville Wildcats were beaten by the Kosciusko Whippets 71-43. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Whippets are ranked 42nd).
Kosciusko's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cory Guyton Jr led the charge by going 6 of 15 en route to 15 points and three steals. Guyton Jr is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaybre Pierce, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points and five assists.
Louisville's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Kosciusko, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.
Louisville will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Leake Central at 7:30 p.m. Leake Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 games -- so hopefully Louisville likes a good challenge. As for Kosciusko, they will square off against Caledonia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
