Basketball Recap: Heartland Huskies vs. McCool Junction Mustangs
After losing to McCool Junction the last time they met, Heartland decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Heartland Huskies greeted the New Year with with a 44-27 win over the McCool Junction Mustangs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.
Heartland's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ariane Sololuze, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Hiebner, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.
Heartland was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCool Junction only racked up six assists.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short.
